At the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, a young Bob Dylan shook up the folk music scene as the voice of a generation embracing electric power and burning rock—one of the most transformative moments in music of the 20th century. In an October 2020 interview with Collider, director Fedon Papamichael revealed that the Bob Dylan film project, which the studio had recently released, had to be shelved due to COVID precautions. As a result, Papamichael and director James Mangold are moving on to other projects. “I don’t think he’s dead,” Papamichael said of the Chalamet-directed biopic, “but it’s hard to do in the age of COVID because it’s all set in small clubs and there’s a lot of extras in period costumes. So you have a lot of hair and makeup. So our next project is actually Indiana Jones 5 (2022). Mangold is doing that.
