Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their families. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s cohabitation and expresses her feelings in the form of violent, religiously motivated postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers settle into their exciting new life together. However, their happiness is cut short when a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally scarred.
